@Jessey that's true, I know people get arsy about their own particular causes. I have supported both petitions. I am bemused by the bitless thing, frankly. I can't grasp why it's essential to have a bit to do competitive dressage.
I quite agree, but on the flip side can kind of see that the rules on bits, noseband or even whip lengths are meant to make things more equal so that the assessment is on the skill from a known baseline, a bit like rules in motor racing on what tyres can be used for example, there has to be a line somewhere I guess. I've always ridden bitless on and off, I'm not adverse to it at all, I had the same issues in western with comps that require a certain bitting for certain things, and on my predominantly western horses who were more used to curbs because of that, going to a snaffle for dressage was a challenge, so I do get it, just trying to see it form both sides.
