Lovely Leicestershire!!
I dont know what to do about fergs mane! My friend said he would look good with a hogged mane but im not too sure! and if i did would i hog his forelock too or leave his forelock! I think his mane makes him very hot in the summer so all he does is sweat! also he has never had it done before so do some horses not like it? or am i just worrying that he wont feel right!

What do you think?
Would he look good or not here are some pics so you can see how thick his mane is!! its awful to groom!:D

Also any pics of your hogged horses!?

Oooh no! Keep it, it's really pretty!

Plus a nice thick mane like that offers really valuable protection from sun and flies and all that nastiness :)

Oh I think he would look fab but is all down to personal choice. I agonised for 5 years over hogging my horse. I loved his mane but got quite a lot of pressure to hog him from people on my yard.

Last summer we did a local charity showing show for the 1st time in ages and I couldn't get rid of the yellow tinge in his mane, so 2 hours before we were due to leave I hogged him. I am now a complete convert!

Hog that pretty mane? What if you changed your mind halfway through? Nah, keep it keeps the flies off in summer and the heat in in winter :p! i'd pull it if you're worried he'll get too hot just thin it out a bit

Could you not just shorten/thin it out? At least that way he wouldn't get so hot.

I'm not a fan of hogged manes but do like them to be tidy and pulled. If you do go for hogging the mane please please please leave the forelock! :D We are looking at a new pony for my daughter and it's fully hogged - I'm having real trouble finding it attractive!!:D

well he looks like he has the same thickness mane as my bobby had, i'll show u before and after pics of hogged and not hogged! personally looking at ** boys mane it looks quite nice a flowing, bobby's was short and choppy and rubbed in places!!

i kind of agree with scarymary! i kind of regretted hogging bobby cos he looked cute and sweet with the mane and fur but a bit butch and a bit of a bruiser without, well he was a bruiser so i mean it matched his personality! lol i personally would keep the mane but he would look stunning hogged!! if he has fat lumps on his mane then dont cos bobby did and it was awful!!! lol x x
