In all honesty don't know too much about Horses Teeth, but would guess
that a Youngster is going thro' lots of changes.

I was watching Sioned eating her hay the other day and couldn't quite
put my finger on what I wasn't too happy about.

Today watching her I am convinced she needs her teeth looking at, she is eating her hay but every now and then I am sure I can see an 'OUCH'

SOOOOOO which way to go VET or 'OTHER' and if 'OTHER' WHO?????

Had her teeth checked last Summer and all was well.

Can't help you with who because you is miles away lol! But I would go for dentist instead of a vet. Vets don't have as much experience, so if there is a problem the dentist is more likely to know the best most modern way to tackle. If it was just a check up then I would say vet but because you are concerned I would go with proper dentist. Have a search who is in your area and what qualifications they have. Or phone your vets and ask which dentist they recommend. I know my dentist does all the work for my vets - but purely coincidental as I have used dentist longer than vets.

eml : Ok but who is your 'tooth man' lol, who do you use.........

I hate putting my Horses in the hands of so called 'professionals' because
you never know how 'good' they are and have to trust them.

It was the Vet who checked teeth last year but I am wondering whether
to go with somebody more 'specialised' but WHO ??

Thankyou, will ask Vets and check with some Friends who they use x

One of the Vets from the practice I use did quite a lot of work on Morse's
teeth when I had him and I was quite impressed at the time with the
way he dealt with him etc., as not the 'easiest' Youngster:giggle:

Maybe I will see if I can get him out, but will check with some Friends
first to see who they use, don't want to leave it, would like somebody out
in the next few days really.

I use my vet just incase my cob needs sedating, although he was a very good boy last time!

She normally has a feel around my TB but doesn't mess with her teeth at the moment.

Good point as she may need sedating, especially if she is in pain, she is eating
but I can just 'see' something isn't quite right.

How old is she? When they start to loose baby teeth sometimes they have trouble when the tooth is ready to fall out... I think you can use bonjela gel on them? Rub it into the gum, where the mouth is sore:smile:

As far as who, I'd go for an equine dentist over a vet any day. My dentist is fab, doesn't sedate and neither does he need to. He's also a bit bank to so great at mouth conformation and fitting bits to different mouths. He almost certainly doesn't go as far west as Bristol though.

Youngster tend to loose teeth, have new ones growing and teething problems every now and again. At least you know it's becuase she's a youngster opposed having a 'real' problem in an adult horse. Hopefully there is a good dentist near you.

I was forever fiding teeth in water buckets...
