Those with sweetitch, do you juggle fly rugs with lightweight turnout rugs for the very rainy days (of which there have been rather a lot of late), or do you keep the fly rugs on regardless of the weather ?

Luckily none of mine have sweetitch but my friends pony does - she had only bought her earlier in the year and it wasn't expected but she rubbed her mane raw.

My friend has since invested in a boett rug which has worked wonders - it stays on 24/7 come rain or shine and dries very quickly if it gets wet - she can also ride with it still on. I'd never seen one before and was completely amazed. Not cheap but worth every penny I reckon.

on 24/7 regardless of weather, theyre designed to dry quickly. worst thing you can do is take them off (or put on a neckless/bellyleg rug!) when it rains as midges are at their worst straight after the rain. if your horse really cant cope with wet, stick a rainsheet on top for a bit.
