Smokey

What a heartwarming story—it sounds like Smokey landed exactly where he was meant to be! He’s lucky to have someone so dedicated to his recovery. It’s amazing how quickly a kind eye and good care can start to transform a gelding, even one who’s had a rough time.

His reaction to lunging reminds me of my own horse—some geldings just default to ‘GO mode’ when they’re unsure, as if they think speed will please you. It’s lovely that he already trusts you enough to settle and stick close afterward. That connection is everything.

Can’t wait to see his progress as he fills out and gains confidence. Keep the updates coming!

We finally ride!
It took us awhile to be able to buy him tack to suit his anatomy.
He's such a good, good boy. He's officially my daughter's horse.
He appears to be the perfect first horse. Very polite but also very responsive.

Wow that looks like a completely different horse now to the one you started with. Proper covering rather than the prominent bones he was showing. To be riding now as well. You've come a long way with him.

How wonderful to see Smokey ridden after what must be 15 months. Well done, well done to you and your daughter. He looks well, calm, happy and responsive. Fantastic rehabilitation!

Nothing dramatic here. Hardly have any time to ride but hopefully this will change in the near future.
I always thought the things that Minnie does where she rests her head on my head or shoulder was super special but apparently it's very common.
Smokes had started to rest his chin on my head. It's cute. I like it. 1000050984.jpg
