Silver gene anyone help

Hi sorry to annoy you but anyone help our mini horse 3yr old 4 in 2 months
was bought as piebald he has 3 coats at time June his outer coat was
a brown underneath Black and white..anyway this year this is him before clip

His dad is Buckskin said to carry silver gene,just noticed when clipt his chest
he is now more a brown now lovely lightish brown confused passported
piebald and showing him At Royal Highland as piebald question will he go all
brown or do you think he will go more silver..\Do I need to repassport him

They often go brown/black at this time of year when they are losing their winter coat.
 
Not silver. To give you an idea of teh differences this is silver - note how all the mane and tail are silvery cream in colour whilst your little chap only has white mane where his markings lie. It's not a progressive colour like grey so a silver will be silver right from the start, not develop the colour over time.

My boy was a Haflinger, as we know not palomino, but chestnut with flaxen, but he tended towards having a lot of black/grey hairs in his mane.
 
This was Ugla, the most gentle and wonderful school mistress. Sadly missed.

Ugla's a good example of silver on bay, which can be mistaken for liver chestnut.

But in silver there will be dark hair at the root of mane and tail, the legs will be dark chocolate not red.

A flaxen liver chestnut can mimic silver and make it difficult to tell for sure without a dna test.
