Here's a short vid of Megan with my daughter who is gaining confidence handling her on the ground. I thought you'd like to see her moving and without rugs on. <a href="http://www.clipshack.com/Clip.aspx?key=7521246D3461C639"><img src="http://www.clipshack.com/ClipLinkThumb.aspx?id=7521246D3461C639" border="0"></a>

This was the start of their time (only 10 minutes) warming up in the sandschool at our yard, somebody came and spoke to me after that so I missed her trotting her round  My daughter is 5'6" tall and really slim, spit spit spit  and Megan looks smaller than her 14h1" next to her, she makes it up with width though

When they finished daughter had her doing trot to halt transistions and she was stopping on a sixpence, particularly when there was hope of a bit of carrot as a reward. Megan and my daughter really enjoyed the experience, I'm hoping this will show Meg that school work isn't all bad, bless her heart :p

When I played it back I had to laugh at Meg looking at me when she passed the camera, she knew I had a bag of bits of carrot by the gate and you can see her licking her lips in anticipation then getting mardy when she's gone past by no carrot had appeared :D

Fingers crossed the link works ;)

She's gorgeous! I havent seen her without a rug on yet, what a sweetie pie! I laughed out loud at the bit when she walks past the camera and kinda strays hoping for a treat :D
P.S Love that tail

Awwwww.:) :)

She is gorgeous.:D :D

Are you doing a lot of in-hand work with her?

If my potential boy does ok with the vet tomorrow that will be my plan with him.

How old is Megan, Imp? I can't remember.

xx

:D She was advertised as 8 but vet said between 8 and 10 so I say 9

We had been riding her in school, which she hates from the RS and my daughter had a nasty bash on her knee. I suggested in hand work with daughter to help them both this morning and luckily they both loved the experience. Megan was even trotting with her ears pricked and a lovely spring in her step... poor daughter had to lumber along beside in the wet sand with her wellies on

I am planning a lot more of the same for bonding, training and joining up... I was critisised for the amount of treats she has tonight but I'm ignoring that as she is treated when she complies and she's OUR horse, not anybody elses - nyeeeeer nyer RAAAASSSP (mature adult nature will out  )

She's gorgeous - I think this is the first time I've seen her as I missed some of your early threads about her - I'm glad to know what she looks like at last!

I've been reading Kelly Marks' Perfect Manners book and she recommends lots of excercises to in 'inhand'.

She even jumps over small cross poles with horse jumping after her.

Looks like they were having fun today - great way to keep fit too - your daughter looks like a lovely girl :D :D
What a great experience for her.:D

Looking forward to seeing more piccies and videos.

xx

OH MY GOD IMP!!!

Now that I have seen her naked and moving she's even MORE a dead-spit of Cherry.... I had goosepimples watching the vid.... the face, the colour, the tail, Chez has one white and the front and one at the back and is 15hh but STILL.......

So it's only fitting really that I say ONCE AGAIN, she is TOTALLY GORGEOUS!!!!! :D

Wow! A really lovely girl with a nice big plumptious bum. Megan, that is:p
Keep up the titbits they are obviously working!
PS Isn't it depressing when daughters grow out of the puppy fat and toothy grin stage?

Hi Imp- lovely vid! Groundwork=v. good for confidence betwixt prospective rider and horsie, I'm finding. (Saddle arrives, finally , on Thursday). I am working with instructor on this, and learning loads as various little things are pointed out. I tend to be over-anxious, and I'm learning how to deal calmly with situations like a little bit of barging from HQ, who is beginning to test me out as she relaxes into her new environment, or practising halting between two objects and backing her up etc etc. I find all this enjoyable, and have realised the long wait to be able to ride again has been a blessing, actually. As the greenest novicey owner on the yard, I've had time to establish some important things before riding about the place! Sounds like you, too, are enjoying it all. It's great, innit?!!!!!:D OMG, we are horse owners!:) :) :) :)

I'm so pleased things are going well for you and HQ; she sounds like she's settling down if she's pushing her luck ;)

Megan tries to get bargy with her head sometimes but I've got a good set of lungs (got three teenagers to keep in check  ) and she jumps a mile if she's been told off. I figured that I can soften when she is totally settled and knows all the rules and has her manners with us sorted out. I'm being tough but forgiving because she's never been owned by one person (or two in her case) due to being brought over from Ireland, broken and used in the RS :p I hope she's happy with us :)
