I just brought a sheep skin girth cover for my mare who gets a small rug behind her elbow. It's never turned into a sore just loses hair but I don't want it getting any worse.

Anyway, I don't know how to put it on. I mean I can put it on and do up one side but when I go to do up the other side it's very tricky becuase the girth straps are too far into it for me to see what I am doing. I'm sure it must be easier than this. I've just never used one before.

Any hints?

Are you using an ordinary girth or a dressage girth?

With Mattie's ordinary girth, I just push it as far away from me as possible - as far towards the already-done-up buckles as it will go - then catch the other buckles and slide the sheepy cover into position.

Perhaps yours is a ltitle long? You could trim it?
