Saddlers. A quick question.

If a saddler said this:

I am the Saddle Fitter for ******* Saddlery I am not an SMS saddle fitter. When I did my training in 1987 there was no such qualification, I trained for five years along side our Master Saddler and have been fitting saddles for over 25 years. We employ a Master Saddler to do all our repairs and reflocking etc.

What would you think?

Not sure when the qualification first came out. There are some very good non SMS fitters out there. I'd be more interested in recommendations.

Frustratingly as a lot of people on my yard have found, sms recognition appears to sometimes not mean a lot

I wouldn't say this saddler had been recommended.


I want to find out who the master saddler that does the reflocking is though!
