Private Messaging - where is it?

Now here's a thing (and it has been bothering me).

I read from @Mike on the thread about banned words "Drop me a private message." - so I tried but where is it? What am I missing?

I have "a conversation" button but no private message.

Please, if you can help, show me where this button is because I, for one, cannot find it but, having said that, I am not the brightest star in anyone's firmament!
