Preparing while waiting?

Good morning! I am a 47-year-old female, and I have not ridden since my early 20s, when I took dressage lessons for about eight months. I’m on the waitlist to get back into lessons (hunter/jumper). While I wait, I know that my muscles are going to take a huge hit, and I’d like to prepare as much as possible. Does anyone have any good advice on which muscle groups I should focus on, or any specific in-my-house exercises I can do to prepare my body for riding?

Hello and welcome, I think the best thing I can suggest is maybe some core muscle workouts, other than that I think you have to accept you’re going to have a few sore spots until your muscles get used to it again.

Hi welcome to NR

Core is definitely good to work on, Pilates are meant to be very good for riders. I think also general cardio fitness and flexibility won’t hurt 🙂
