the surgeon was delighted with her progress. after surgery her mobility decreased by 2 grades, 1 was expected but she did worse than hoped for. But she has now recovered 3 grades so better than pre surgery and almost 4. She is now allowed under supervision to come upstairs to bed - phew we get to sleep - and we can increase longevity of her walks and/or frequency. She trotted then ran across the lawn yesterday, a bit inelegant but she was confident enough to have a go. Eating well, digestion back to normal though she is eating a bit of grass so will give her the digestive powders for another month to keep her feeling better. She is bright and while she tires, the main thing is to build up her stamina and strength now.

Two tired poodles, they helped us do some fencing this morning. Millie was off lead in the field and she walked right up the hill and across the field was out for at least an hour, just doing what she wanted to do including trying to run.
Now flat out in the garden but she can get on her back and roll over and wave paws in the air. Amazed at how much she is managing to do less than 4 weeks from surgery.20230909_153420.jpg20230909_153431.jpg20230909_153407.jpg

It was OH's birthday so we attempted an overnight at Otterdale Castle Hotel, didn't entirely go to plan as Millie had an addison's attack at 2am and Harrison had a bladder issue at 3am, so it was great fun walking around the grounds in the dark with a poodle who needed a pee. And both of them went back to sleep of course, we didn't20230916_091028.jpg20230915_172429.jpg20230915_174221.jpg20230916_075557.jpg20230916_091057.jpg20230916_093817.jpg20230916_093850.jpg20230916_093854.jpg20230915_172412.jpg20230915_172421.jpg

Well THEY enjoyed it lol.
it was surprising how unsettled both of them were, first time they have been overnight in a hotel. Harrison wasn't sure till he got on the bed and has pillow rage....Millie was very anxious. They behaved impeccably at dinner, in fact the owners of the hotel commented and how good they were. they had their breakfast sausages and again behave really welll. I could have murdered harrison, he never goes out in the night, but he stood up on the bed and was plaintive. managedt to get out of the hotel to the nearest planter and emptied his tank - then had the nerve to ask to go for a walk......he went back to sleep and snored....Millie stopped shaking once we gave her more steroids and was cuddled in my duvet jacket with her head on the pillows.

Millie continues to improve, now walking up to 25 minutes. Tonight the footpath was closed and we had to turn back, choice of longer detour or going up a flight of 40 steps. Chose that, she trotted up them very well, will be tired. Having some scrambled eggs to replenish the tired poodle.20230923_083350.jpg
