October Chat!

I ordered a bag of balancer on Amazon and received 2 even though I've only paid for one. Do I tell them? It's still only marked as dispatched and due on Monday so I'm wondering if a third will turn up then. They are £25 each so I feel bad getting more than I paid for but seems like an odd mistake to be made, bought it from the Spiller's shop on there.

Also when I got to the yard today Ale greeted me from on top of the muck heap 🤦‍♀️the gate between that and their field was open, please tell me he hasn't worked out how to open gates 🤞

First, do not open nor destroy the packaging. Amazon are good about returns.
I would check your orders listed on the amazon site. If one parcel comes from amazon itself and another from a different firm, it is possible that you managed to double order. But again, Amazon are good about returns.
However, if you think you will eventually need the second pack, it might be as well to notify amazon but decide to keep it.

There is a time lag on refunds. Amazon do not credit back duplicate charges until they have recieved the returned item and you need to get proof of postage or collection when you send the unwanted or duplicate item back.
OH and I were very dependent on Amazon itself during lock down but like you we managed to receive a duplicate shipment. I ordered one 2 litre jug and I received 2 one litre jugs. Amazon told me not to worry and keep it. but of course it wasnt what I needed.

We once ordered a large item from Amazon that would be sent directly from the supplier. We needed it for a specific date. It disappeared from tracking, but was then somehow shown as returned to the supplier. As it was now too late for it to be re-sent, we cancelled the order and had a full refund. A while later, the item was delivered, after the date we needed it for. We contacted Amazon, who confirmed that the supplier had logged the original item back, and they did not want us to send anything back as their records did not show it outstanding! Nor could they charge us for it, as it did not exist as far as they were concerned.
So, due to someone slipping up somewhere, we had a free item - which we did find useful later.

On my morning dog walk I spent 15 minutes building up the jumps in the little pony play area on our local heath. Sid loves to go there and is so disappointed if the jumps are broken down (or worse, taken away completely). When I was done we had:

(1) at 7 o'clock on the edge of the ring, a little skinny starter jump

At 5 o'clock on the edge, a small jump. You can see one of the larger jumps beyond it

At 1 o'clock one of the bigger jumps. This is 4 proper canter strides or 3 excited Sid canter strides from the small jump in the previous pic. The final jump, which is inset from the entrance at 12'oclock, is on the left.

A close up of the jump on the right:

And the biggest jump, in the centre, with a Sprollie for scale in the water obstacle beyond. This is quite an imposing jump now, at least 70cm high. I have to be careful jumping this one in the wet because Sid doesn't like to land in the water and has been known to kink in mid-air!

I try to ride the course differently each time I go round it. It's surprising how many permutations there are. Sid doesn't mind which direction and likes the tight turns. I love the feeling as he comes out of a turn and puts his foot on the throttle as we approach the jump. I feel like Pat Smythe (showing my age there)!

Not counting our chickens by a longshot, but things seem to be quietening down for Dom. He hasn't needed any morphine since last weekend and was mainly out (gently and carefully) working last week. He's had bouts of "discomfort", but not the huge, roll-on-the-floor-screaming pain that's he's experienced. It seems that once you have a cranky panky you always have a cranky panky, so we're learning to adapt. But this has definitely been a better week.

He brought his camera out with us to walk the girls today and got this photo in the glorious early morning sunshine ❤️

I ordered expensive brushing boots and immediately changed my mind. I canceled order, I got a refund but the boots also turned up. I felt guilty and emailed them and didn't get a reply for about 10 days when they emailed saying could I send them back. I said I didn't want to pay and I didn't want credit. They then chased me for them. I then did a search online and found the same boots from a retailer rather than direct from the company and said if they matched that price I would buy them which they did. J wished I had just kept quiet.

Another eventful morning at the yard, there's a lady down at the same time as me with a massive rottie with a light round his neck. He usually chills outside the stable but today he came bounding over in the dark in our vague direction, Ale took one look and was gone the other way 😂 luckily I caught him after a couple of minutes doing loops of the hay barn. They come in for the night starting Tuesday and I'm already dreading it haha.

Town is being brought to a standstill moving huge turbine blades, going along the end of our road, and along a riding route! 1 done, 23 to go....town traffic chaotic, going to take 3 months, ruin trading for the already in a mess high street. Was opposed by local council nodded through as always by Edinburgh where the lights are on and no one is inconvenienced.

I just hope Buddy and I don't meet them, they have put a huge laybye on the road at the end of our lane where they can park them and also on various places on the riding route so it is totally unpredictable if/where you might meet them. as they don't remotely keep to any timetable as they keep getting stuck. the whole town is gridlocked as it takes them hours to navigate
