I just moved my pony to a new barn and have gone for a couple of trail rides, nothing too long, just exploring around the property. She's been there about 3.5 weeks. She has been very reluctant to leave the barn area, but once I get her past her magic threshold all she wants to do is go fast. So last night after trying all the calming techniques I could think of over and over again I just let her go fast. She was a little calmer after that, but still not the same as she usually is. I'm wondering what you all think about how I should proceed. She has been a brave trail pony everywhere else she has ever been, so I'm at a loss. Should I try the whole ride to get her relaxed or just let her run? Maybe she will just settle in with time, but she has never had a settling in problem before. Looking forward to hearing what you think.
