Slightly trivial thread this one but here goes!

I've had my boots for just under a year and wear them all the time on the yard and obviously for riding, and they've stared to let water in allready. I religiously clean them after every time ive worn them so its not that their battered! Not used them like wellies either! Was wondering if any of u lot out there have bought them in the past and how long they've lasted cos for £55 i expected better!!!
Also i'm looking for a new coat to wear for riding, any recommendations?

I am not familiar with the mountain horse jodphur boots, but from what you have said about cleaning them every time they have been worn it sounds as though you have overdone it and weakened them in some way. I have some cheap tuffa jodphur boots which I have owned for well over a year and they still are waterproof so it must be either a one off fault with the boots or over cleaning them that has caused them to leak. It may well be that the cleaning has weakened the stitching sufficiently to let water through.
In respect of riding coats I have a coat that I purchased from Westgate and it is brilliantly warm and washes well too. My friend swears by Musto although I cannot say as I have never tried them. I guess it all depends on how much you are prepared to spend.

as far as Mountain Horse boots go leaking does seem to be a problem - I am on my second pair of Mountain Rider boots. Again, these are not treated like wellies - i wear them to the yard and ride in them, thats it. But where the sole joins the leather upper is no longer a good seal and has started to come away.

My last pair started to so that after about 7 months, so i took them back to the shop i got them from and they sent them back to Mountain Horse - i got a new pair as a replacement.

The replacement pair have now started doing the same. I will just keep them though as they are really comfy boots to wear!!!

I would definitely take them back though - you should get offered a replacement or a refund.

PS - i would wash the worst of the mud of my boots once in a while and treat them with a waterproofing dubbin - and they still went!! I think that it is probably just the case that where the sole joins the upper is a weak point!
