Does anyone have any ideas on how to make my horse more confident in her jumping, she used to compete to 1.30m with her old owner, (4 years ago).
and no i find it hard to get her over a 90cm spread.
To cut a long story short she pulled muscles in her shoulder in february 2007 and this made her not want to jump at all. painful memories im guessing.. I have got her comfortably tackling 1.20 uprights again but once i introduce a spread bigger than 90cms she panics, spins and bolts so her issue is definately spreads. This used to be a point and go i love my jumpies type horse. never refused until then
We have tried building her up slowly to jumping spreads again. using gridwork and starting with low fences. i really want to get out competing again and i want to help her get over this fear.
Shes has had her teeth, back and tack checked all this month and is getting another visit from the physio in 2 wks.
I have given her 5wks off work completely, she is out at grass and i'm hoping she'll come back in with a fresh attitude to jumping, x-c causes no issues at all no matter what size the fence.
any ideas on how to get my old mare back again?
