I have just had some lumps removed from my pony's back and the results have come back as a parasite! I have to now send off a poo sample to get a more detailed answer but was wondering if anyone has ever had this before and what could be causing it?
I remember when I started riding (years ago) and had my first pony.
He had an insect bite on his back but I was told about this parasite which lays an egg just under the skin where the larvae matures.
I remember us having to use an extra piece of foam under the numnah, with a hole cut out to avoid rubbing the bite which could infect.
Turns out it was just an innocent fly bite but the story grossed me out all the same.
Sorry not to have any more technical explanations though
