a while ago i posted thread on my youngster not seeming to understand that a gentle pull of the reins (i also use voice aids but he hasnt learnt my voice yet) means to stop, for downward transitions he is fine and comes back very quickly, but for example you want to stop to join onto a road from a track ect he doesn't do this...i was thinking of teaching him long reining (if he hasnt been taught to do so before) to help him with his steering and getting to understand what pulling on the reins mean
also being young and a very inquisitive character, i find that if he finds something he wants to look at whilst hacking he will walk over to it which is good in one point as shows he is bold but not so good when you are trying to steer
so any suggestions as to the long reining idea? he is in a french link snaffle full cheek to help with the steering issue but as i am giving him time off from being ridden i thought long reining or something would be good?
