I was just thinking about all the different things I'd love to try with Daffy;

- novice level dressage
- unaff show jumping
- affiliated showing at agris and some county shows
- some xc
- pleasure rides
- sidesaddle
- driving
- mounted games
- polocross or horseball
- le trec

Do you reckon a horse can do (and cope with) that many different disciplines? I won't be doing any of them bar showing seriously unless I fall in love with one I haven't done, but I'd love to give it all a go. :)

You're all going to tell me it depends on the horse aren't you? :p He's a 14yo 14.2hh welsh cob. Very laid back, well schooled (albeit not by me) and a very novice jumper. Never been driven or ridden side saddle.

In my opinion he should have no problems doing:
- novice level dressage
- unaff show jumping
- affiliated showing at agris and some county shows
- some xc
- pleasure rides
- mounted games
- le trec

The others are slightly more specialised, but theres not reason why you cant give them a go & see how he responds.

Good luck :)

Yep. Have fun.

A friend of mine and her mare do everything. The mare is a 7 year old QH.

Together they show in jumping, dressage, cross country, gymkhana, trail classes , western pleasure shows, short endurance races, and they do in hand shows (several of which she has won championships in).

If that wasn't enough the mare is a therapy horse, and is being trained to drive. The only thing she doesn't do is barrel racing because they use the barrel pattern in the therapeutic riding classes.

If your horse is fit enough and has proper training in each and you apply the correct aids in each one, you both should do just fine. :)

I asked my RI the same question. He wants me to show my 16yo Appendix in Western Pls, Trail, Horsemanship, In-Hand, English Pls & Equitation, Dressage, and All the Senior classes on the Open Circuit. I dont think we will be doing much of the western though, but definately the English Pls, Equitation, Senior classes, and Dressage. Buisy buisy summer ahead
