I've always had it in my head never to clip in january - think i inherited this from my old YO who taught me how to clip. However, i have a very hairy horse (clipped in oct, fully grown back!!) in need of getting fit. does it do them any harm (summer coat wise) clipping in late jan?

My RI owner was talking about clipping the horse I ride, he is a very hairy native type and gets fair to hot if not fully clipped. He was clipped early Oct, but it has completely grown back. I believe he is due to be done this week.

We were always told never after the end of January. I clipped last Saturday.

To be honest, I have clipped in mid Feb before and the summer coat has come through fine. When I was doing a lot of showing I would clip all year round, and it hasn't ruined her coat.

i'm aiming on doing him on saturday :) there's no way he can work as he is, he's like a wooly mammoth! cheers guys :)
