in Cambridgeshire please?

Sorry to be thick...I've done it once before, thoroughly enjoyed it and the judge I wrote for was very generous in explaining her thoughts which I found fascinating. I completely realise that not everyone will be like that but would like to offer my services.

Is anybody ableto point me in the right direction please?

Can't help you locally but the way i got into dressage writing was through volunteering at local riding clubs. Try and find out if you have any dressage specialist clubs. Or even try contacting show venues who can put you in touch with dressage comp organisers. good luck! i thoroughly enjoy dressage writing, i've always learned a lot and picked up handy tips for when i'm dressaging myself!

Same as Eventerbabe, you should have no problem finding places to write as most riding clubs, and any affiliated venue will always be crying out for writers.
I started at riding club level and just carried on from there as i was going for my dressage judge levels at the time..then foot and mouth came along and all comps were cancelled, so i did bowen instead LOL..
Have to say i really enjoyed doing it at all levels, but interesting to see how judges were biased even at a very high level, including FEI judges!!!
I wrote at gatcombe, and also at the national champs at Addington for a PSG test.
Best thing about higher levels is you get a free lunch :biggrin:

Second the riding clubs bit, I am doing it later in the season for my RC, great as Ziggy won't be back in work but I can still learn!

Result!! Both local clubs responded and I've got dates in the diary plus Long Drove...Thanks for advice

Contact local riding clubs or riding schools that hold events?

I've done it before and it's so useful, you find out what the judge is looking for (arguing with your calller is frowned upon mid test :D)

I was a BE dressage Steward last year and they gave me a lovely lunch, including wine and my god do you need wine being a dressage steward!

I've fence judged unaffiliated and I found the trick was to be near the water jump so you could watch it, but without actually having to get out of your car to give wet people leg ups! :D
