Here's a link to a youngster for sale on AdHorse UK. He's a nice looking boy which is why I read the ad.

http://www.adhorse.co.uk/horseforsale_66092.html

Now apparently he is by an Irish Draught sire our of a Welsh D/TB cross. As far as I know, there are no coloured horses allowed in any of those 3 breeds. So how can this youngster be a skewbald?

I wondered if any of the splash markings which are allowed in Welsh Ds could have sort of combined, but it doesn't seem very likely.

Am I missing something?

Welsh breeds can have splashed white overo, recessive gene I think.
Sabino Overo is in some Welsh types.

So it's possible they got a surprise when the coloured popped out. :D

I didn't know you had part bred ID classes.
I wonder why they are for sale as they (I guess) chose to breed them.

Thank you @chev ! I've noticed this a fair bit recently - I think horses with Irish ancestry sometimes have *hem hem* uncertain breeding...

I wonder what would happen if I asked the seller how he came to be that colour?!

Could it be that there is genuinely something else in there - I have heard of horses referred to as 'Welsh' when they are technically part bred Welsh, but it seems to be ok to do this. I know the breeding is on the advert, but it means nothing to me.
