My trailer is a really old Ifor Williams Hunter 505, and I am having the age old issue with the breach bars. The attachments are the old keyhole type, which over time get distorted and then the bars come unattached in transit. Not ideal.
(the bottom hole on this one is how it should be, the top one worn. Sadly this is the only one not worn, so I can't just use the lower setting)
I can't seem to find new ones of these old plates anywhere - not overly surprising as they all failed like this. So I was going to get the bottom welded but I'm now wondering if that will leave the bar too high in the socket and likely to bounce out?!? Another option is to replace with the newer type attachments and bars but I'm not overly keen to start punching extra holes in the trailer and because its the old H partition it would shorten the horse space by a good few inches. I could have rings welded on the trailer frame so I can clip the existing bars onto those. I can't see the wood for the trees, any thoughts?
