Years ago I had my own horse and am now preparing to get a new lovely.

My horse was forever getting his leg stuck in his rug surcingle and ripping them to pieces. I eventually happened upon a clever jelly thingy that the t-bar fastener connected with. If he got his leg stuck and pulled it would snap stopping the rug rip at the surcingle. Can't for the life of me recall what they might be called. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Only the ones with the carabiner clip that's easier to undo.
Or the piece of rubber that stops the t bar coming undone.

Not seen what you're describing, properly adjusted there shouldn't be room for a foot in a surcingle, tho my mare still catches it occasionally (I find the clips bent but she doesn't rip the rug) I'd be interested if you find them.
