I am currently (well very long term ) putting down some of my teaching ideas/experiences so that I have a 'retirement' (I wish) project of making an ideas book for young instructors.
I suddenly realised how bizarre some of my explanations are so thought you may have fun guessing some of the 'real' aids.
On sharp forward going pony do 'tuglets ...no not hard just close your fingers tight everytime you sit in trot or see the ponies inside leg come forward in canter' .....Generally used for the under 10's.
Feel your horse going up a flight of stairs ...teenagers
'Just like Mummy telling you to tidy your bedroom, whisper, ask , shout and then say 'Hey I'm talking to you' ' ...little ones just able to trot around school as ride
Sit quietly and feel your saddle move to the wall...teenagers/adults
Oh and at the beginner level I 'earn' a chocolate every time a child rides into me when I am a 'corner' marker!!
For grown ups only I use the infamous saying about which parts move... and it works!!
I would like to hear your guesses and other mad things your instructor says!
