Never heard of them before, but I've just spoken to someone who's getting some. A lot cheaper than winter tyres and if they do what they claim to do, then they'd make driving an awful lot easier and safer on some of the roads at the moment.
 
Thanks for the link:) Never seen these before. A few people are talking about them now. Very tempted to get some to keep in the car.

There are quite a lot on Ebay too of various brands...
 
Snow socks

I'd rather people use these and not crash however I've got some doubts about how they'de be regarded in UK law. As they cover the tyre tread I suspect they could well be deemed unlawfull other than to 'get you out of trouble'.

Certainly seems a better idea than chains which can also badly damage tyres.
