I want to move Shadow back into the paddock field behind his stable, but the new liveries have their two on there, because the sparse grazing suits their two.
He needs to come back onto poorer grazing, as I feel he's just bloating too much in the main field and it's countering what i'm trying to achieve.
I want to start fetching him in during the day again, but that means one horse would be left out alone, not fair on either of them :frown:
Shadow wouldn't be bothered in the slightest at being in, but his field mate would be stood crying out all day. I don't want to force his owner to start fetching in, she has her own ideas and it's up to her what she does.
I've started to lightly hack him out around the block (yesterday), to stretch his muscles, and test whether he has any further issues with his metabolism (temp fluctuation and respiration recovery rate), and am pleased to report a positive outcome there, he recovered more or less straight away, no blowing of nostrils, and his breathing rate was fine.
He's now on a program of walking around the block for the next 5 days then maybe a bit further next Saturday.
The only reason he's out 24/7 is because the cough he developed 5 weeks ago, that has now disappeared (been 3 and a half weeks now). I'm now wanting to start the regime we were on before he got the cough, only with haylage this time and not dodgy hay.
I just want him back to where he was fitness and health wise  He currently lives on a very steep field, so has to work for his grass, so he's not totally unfit, and doesn't sweat much with exercise (girth area, neck and between the front and back legs). I've never been looking forward to a drop in night time temperatures so much! Roll on winter!
