What are your favourite grooming products and brushes etc?

My everyday grooming gear is a mismash, I think it's high time I treated myself and the neds to some new stuff.

I currently have bog standard mane and tail spray, it works but the effects don't last long. I used to use cowboy magic but wondered if they're is anything else worth a try?

I don't body brush as a rule as mine live out, but Jess is pretty greasy this year on her rump. She hasnt had a bath in almost a year, any really good degreasing shampoos?

I use Canter Mane and Tail spray and as for shampoo I just buy which ever ones are on offer. I did get a couple of bottles of Gallop shampoo bought as a gift and have found them to be good. Mine only get one or two baths a year at most. Its too chilly yet I will wait until the first nice warm day in spring to bath them both.

I still love cowboy magic for mane and tails but for a spray i do still rate canter mand and tail. Also love their rosewater shampoo.

Brushes i love my magic brushes, really rate them, great at getting the mud off amd lifting pretty well muddy stains on a cremello. Still rate a good rubber curry comb and my Korstiq grooming kit is great. A mix of natural and non natural brushes and work great when i do a full deep groom with the kit i have.

I have a splendid useful plastic brush someone on here bought me:D it seems to be shared between the three of them as it's good for all occasions. I love Canter mane n tail, plus I won a big bottle in an online show class a while ago:D
Also have Lincoln spray which is good for their tails. I have two full Bentley kits but actually prefer my old brushes - think they are Salmon and Equerry. I have a set of fancy kb something or other brushes. Zi likes those. I won them. They have anti bac properties, can't just remember how they work. Something to do with negative and positive charges. Haven't bathed madam for years:p

Magic brushes,
Oster tail brush
A very, very old leather backed body brush that is almost worn away but still my favourite for getting dust out of the coat and adding a shine.
And just for Bertie and Joseph one of these dematting combs - absolutely priceless when they are changing coats -Bertie loves it as he is a tough nut, little Joseph is a bit of a wimp and isn't so keen. But it does the job!

I've got a variety of brushes that I've collected over the years but all I use is the magic brush, my body brush which is a nice leather backed one, but honestly I think I could do with a more ergonomic one because it does tend to slip off my hand sometimes - my hands aren't small but I think it's made for giant hands. Hoof pick of course and scissors for trimming fetlocks and tail and spearing out a little hole in the carrot that Raf's prascend tablet goes in. I also have a grooming block for when he's shedding - Jack loves a blade, but Raf's skin is too sensitive. Cowboy Magic detangle and shine for mane and tail and Cowboy Magic shampoo for 'best' - for getting his white legs and tail clean when it really matters - otherwise we use whatever cheap shampoo I fancy at the tack shop. I've got one called 'Bloom' which says it's a 'rich' shampoo. I don't know whether something has happened to it because it comes out like water, but actually it works really well because I can just squirt it onto his damp legs and it lathers up and cleans really nicely.

Its the canter main and tail that I find doesn't last, I might have to get some more cowboy magic :)

I use car wash mitts for bathing too, they are so much easier than a sponge :)

Does anyone use a skin conditioning shampoo/spray? with all of Jess' skin niggles I just feel like I need to make extra effort to look after her at the moment.

How is she with Lavender Jessey? I use NAF lavender wash, you dilute in water and hot cloth or cold cloth with it as an after ride wash or anytine you like. Torin seems to get on with it with his itchy scurfy skin and its the one time he seems to enjoy a wash down.

Good yes, I have some of the NAF lavender wash (I think its NAF) that I use in the summer. I think it was the sun and 15c yesterday that's got me thinking about getting ready for spring to arrive :D

@Bodshi I have a couple of these Roma body brushes (alongside a couple of more expensive ones) and I find they really follow the contours of the horse's body because they flex in two places.

I have Haas brushes on my wish list..... But they're quite a long way down!! :p

Magic brush here too; fab for getting mud off a hairy mary cob. I have one in each hand as the action warms me up nicely. I have a nice tail and mane brush it’s just a cheap one but good. We haven’t clipped this year as she didn’t grow much hair until Christmas - am very glad for the lovely waffle cooler rug I got for a fiver.
I also use a car wash mitt like Domane does, but we haven’t had a bath for a while as it’s been cold and damp.
Baby shampoo for dunking tail in a bucket and the muddy bit of mane that sticks out of the turnout hood :(
If we do bathe I use a whitening shampoo, whichever one is on offer.
I find that either human baby hair or dog coat spray detangler is much cheaper than the horse version and works just as well.
If we’re just schooling during the week (usually under floodlights after school/work) I only brush mane, tail and where the tack goes. For some reason her cheeks get really plastered. And legs get covered in wet sand...
Pic before her first bath and before we started working on fitness - she looks much less fat belly now and has chunkier haunches / neck / shoulder. I will take a comparison pic when it’s warm enough for a good wash again!

Curry cob and magic brush for the body... Standard mane brush for his mane, tail and feather. No sprays or lotions as hes allergic to everything! Mane and talk washed once a year in medicated shampoo because thats all i can use on him without his skin breaking out in scabs. Senstive soul. All my other products are mainlyfor his feet or medical stuff incase of cuts/grazes/bites
