Hi we are looking to buy our next house with land to keep a couple of horses for our own use. However, I am considering opening stables/livery. Could any body offer any advice, any books or any words of wisdom as I begin this venture? Thank you.

I've pm'd you with some info.

Loads of luck :D

Good luck!

Draw up a contract for each livery to sign on behalf of their horses:
state what they may be removed from the yard for
how long they would have to find new yard
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY PERMISSION TO RING VET(important one)
How much notice they are required to give when leaving. etc

Make sure before you buy that there is planning permission to run a business and what the NDR (non domestic rate) is..that can make or break a business.

I know someone who built up a 20 horse yard and then were told by the council they could only use it for their own horses because of access issues ...a very expensive mistake.
