Hi all,

I was reading the other day about how pilates is supposed to really help riders who have poor posture or suffer from intermittent back pain. As my instructor regularly tells me how badly I am seated, back not straight enough, chest not stuck out enough  I thought it may be worth a go? So am booked into a class at my gym this evening, and have no idea what to expect. Sooooo nervous! Suspect will make a bit of a t*t of myself!
Do any of you guys do pilates, and does it help at all?

I used to do it to help a joint condition I have and found it very beneficial. Infact as soon as I get the car up and running I'm thinking of starting again!

Good luck it's hard work!! x

yes, i started pilates a good few years ago under the advice of my physio after a (non horse related!) back injury. It helped get my back pain under control and has improved my core strength. it also came in handy when my dressage trainer had me controling my horses paces entirely through contracting my core muscles. classes are a good way to start as you'll learn the proper technique :) don't worry!

I did it for a while and found it very helpful.

Gave up the day the band pinged back and smacked me in the face though lol
