I do sometimes wonder why I moved to a different country leaving my family behind, but then today whilst walking the dogs and discovering a new bit of the river at the end of my land, I just love it here and I'm so glad I moved :D

I was really unhappy where I used to live, so it's nice to feel 'good inside' when I'm here.

What about you? :)

Oh crikey, well yes I suppose I do like where I live, having said that if I'd got the cash and could work from home I would certainly find somewhere I'd like better :)

Hopefully in the future we will have saved enough to move somewhere a bit more rural, maybe with a bit of land. But for now I do love my little house. It's where my Grandma lived so a lot of sentimental value, just far enough out of town to have nice parks around us but still really convenient for shopping and socialising.

I adore the safety aspect here. Haven't locked up in eight years - no need. Its a small close knit community - the nowty neighbour is a spanner in the works at times but nobody much likes him so we don't lose much sleep that way! I love the facilities we built and the house is okay now. But, I am far too close to an extremely demanding MIL and OH feels as he's lived here all his life he needs a change and neither of us wants to leave it too late. I will miss my own side of the family when we move but its just something I'll have to get over. My brothers and sisters are scattered across the uk anyways! I love the scenery here and the wildlife. But, I don't like having neighbours so close. It really for me is a down side as I came from a detached house, so this was a compromise. The other bits I don't much care for are the gossips. There are plenty of those!!!!
You can't beat a starry night here tho round at the stables - so quiet and peaceful. I love my late night walk up the hill to do a last check on the girls fencing / water etc. I am sure I'll find similar elsewhere though - and more privacy. Atm we have to drive through the farmers land and although he's very nice, I would prefer to come and go without feeling as though everyone knows!! You can't do much here without folk noticing.

I dont like my house or the fact its in town (all be it on the edge) but I love the area for the riding and other things to go and do, like pop to the coast for an evening walk but we arent so close that we get snagged up in touristy bits for the most part.
My old house was 8 miles away out in the forest but had to sell that after a breakup, that place was perfect though, well apart from not owning enough land to keep the horses at home but thats the only thing I would have changed.

We only moved here in the summer but I love it - I do a job "in the community" so to go home and not bump into people from work is lovely - otherwise it's difficult to switch off from work. It's rural enough to be out of madness, and bit by bit finding secret gems like tea rooms and shops. Everyone has been lovely and looks out for everyone else. It's not ideal being as far as we are from work, but I would rather that than be too close :)

I love it! wish we were able to live a bit more rural than where our house is, but that will come in the future I'm sure!

With regards to the area and the horses - love it, always so much to do and places to go! cant see me ever moving out of this area to be honest!

I like where I live, but I certainly don't love it. I really feel like our family house lacks privacy as it backs onto 4 other gardens - 3 of which have children in my 8 year old sons class. In the summer we are always having other childrens heads popping over our garden fence, it drives me crazy! Our house is an end of terrace and I would dearly love to have a detached house with enough space to be able to sit in my garden without being overlooked.

The area is expensive, but as my husband is a contracted IT Software Engineer we have to live around here so he can easily find work. I also refuse to disturb my childrens schooling (as I moved schools aged 8 and had a very hard time settling down). Both my children are happy and settled so we will stay in the village until they leave school.

But in 10 plus years time, who knows where we will go?

I can't wait to move. This town has gotten so built up in 37 years.
They think everyone's last name is rockefeller and that there is no end to the bottom of everyone's pockets.
A $ 105 million dollar palace of a high school was the kicker. That's just for this town not multi towns or anything.
The high school we had was fine. Techy people move in vote in this crap then loose their jobs and move out
leaving long term people with the bills. LOL we have a "floating bridge" in some swampy place that no one goes that
cost a lot of unnecessary money then its oh we need an "override" to fix the roads.
I will miss being close to things and I will miss my lovely normal house's neighborhood with normal people but the rest of the
big mc mansion areas won't miss that at all.
The town we have the property in- also in another state Is MUCH MORE REALISTIC AT HOW THEY SPEND MONEY!
Most of that town is normal size houses and down to earth people like around my little neighborhood - but its almost all of the
town not just one small neighborhood. You do see the odd gigantic mc mansion house but they are few and far between- its not the type area to build like that. There is one 4600 sq ft monster of a house on a little teeny tiny back road over there that has been for sale for
5 years and has had multiple price drops on 10 acres and its still for sale--It definitly a I WANT TO BE SEEN TYPE OF HOUSE
but its on a road where no one would see it lol.Its the type of house that does not appeal to me at all I see too many around here
but someone that likes that wants to be in a fancy neighborhood or a much more major road to BE SEEN. lol
That being said in this town that house would be 3 times or more what it has been reduced to over here.
It is definitly a house to entertain in from the photos- It would go well with those barns on the other thread.
So many houses coming up for sale it seems all have big cathedral ceiling foyers- I am not a big fan of that its soooo much wasted space
for high heating costs. A little single room one isn't bad but these places with massive staircase cathedral foyers is such a waste of space.
I guess it was the in thing years ago when heating was cheap.

This would never work for my husband but if $$ were no object or where we lived> I would LOVE to live in a "horsey community"
There are 2 types over here one that you have house only and there is community barn and facilities" no way" would I want that.
I would love to live in one where you have your own house acerage and BARN. but there is a community indoor outdoor rings
etc etc and paths from your houses to the facilities:D:D:D I would love that:rolleyes:

Even if $$ was no object having a private indoor to always still be alone would not be that much fun--although right about now
up to my (&(LJO in snow it lol would be nice to have one!:rolleyes:

That sounds interesting. I like the idea so long as you could hire the school for lessons etc. I didn't like a full school when I was on a yard - there used to be way too many people trying to ride all at once.

I really don't know how they work. I suppose they could get quite busy too.
Taking a lesson w/ too many riders:( in the same space and too many instructors is the pitts:(.
With a jumping lesson its EVEN WORSE!!!:mad::mad::mad: and not the safest:(:(.
Throw in an unsupervised kid on a pony :eek::eek:.going right in front of the jump when we were right on top of it:mad::mad: and no place for me to go
I was "VERY LUCKY I LANDED ON MY FEET":D:D
It could have been really bad:(
Some idiot actually said "oh that looked very nice"" ya well it did not feel nice!!!!
