Okay, so i have only ever used long boots and i have been told that the way to go is short/jodphur boots and half chaps, so...

I need a pair of both boots and chaps, asap. They have to reach a max of £40, i know, i know, but i'm pennyless  I can try to stretch A LITTLE if they are perfect.

I prefer black boots, but as for chaps do as you please, but if they're leather/suede/nubuck etc i'd prefer black.

Would prefer Hide chaps and boots but i know i'll be hard pushed, so if i must i'll stretch. But the cheaper the better, and as for ebay... would prefer not but maybe for perfect choice.

Size 7/41 i think my calf goes under wide?? but a pair of suede chaps i tried were medium.

Hope someone can help!!!

Buying a decent pair of boots is definintly well worth your while. I would have a look on ebay. CHaps don't matter so much. They don't last as long and a cheap pair do just as good a job as expensive. I would recommend getting elastic insert ones however, not the wrap around ones, which never fit.

shires suede half chaps- i back them 100%, they cost £19, and just dont give in, had them for about over 2 years now.:)

i have a pair of plain rubber lovesone jod boots, cost £20, and theyre still going well, no complaints about them

i got saxon joddy boots (size8) and shires chaps (wide) both for under £30 a while ago from alsager!! they hav lasted me ages and the chaps are washable :D so i got some more exactly the same! :)

I recently went out on the same quest as you and although the shop had a few choices in that price range nothing was a good fit........... except the nice leather toggi boots and nice leather chaps:rolleyes: I though about buying from online shops but the fitting worried me. Have to say, I love them though!

I got a £50 pair of joddy boots for £20 on ebay - you can still get some really good bargains if you know what to look for, just make sure of the brand and size you want first.

Maybe none of my business, but why are you switching from long boots anyway? If it ain't broke.....

I got shires woodstock short boots (£21) and then I had to go for made-to-measure chaps as the off the peg ones didn't fit so they came to a bit more at £49 (Regent G2 black suede chaps) Hope that helps. :D

If you're wanting black boots, then I'd go for black chaps too.
It's my personal preference and I think gives a much smarter appearence than mismatching the two.

Chaps, I back Shires elastic ones 110%. Chaps do 'give' a bit (even the non-elasticed ones strtch a fair bit), so go for a snug fit (not so tight your toes turn blue, but not on the loose side).

I'm meant to be working, but oh well. . .

These are all on sale, cheap and good for the approaching winter (and they're in stock!).

^ PVC booties will be much cheaper, but I had to include these because a) they're on sale and b) they're really nice quality (I have a pair and love them ;)).

You might have to copy-and-paste the links, I don't know how you post them properly.
