My field is becoming overrun with this small creeping weed - I've taken a picture next to my welly for scale. It is evergreen and has tiny white flowers and I don't know what it is. Can anyone enlighten me?

The horses won't eat it, and I'm not sure how best to get rid of it as it smothers the grass. Any suggestions?

I think it's a type of knotgrass. It won't do them any harm, but I don't know how you'd get rid of it as most horses I've known eat it.

Mine won’t eat knotweed, but I’ve not had problems with the smaller varieties taking over, it just gets hold on bare ground but gets pushed back by grass once it comes in. I’ve had lady’s thumb spreading like wildfire this year tho.

Mowing it regularly and especially when it's flowering can help in gardens, not sure if the same applies for fields though.

Knotweed thrives in compacted ground. Not that that’s much help. I thought it was pimpernel until you said it has white flowers. I’m not great with weed idents ?
