Buddy not picking up

My other 2 get half a scoop of chaff and a handful of the Agrobs grass cobs. Mattie gets an enormous bowl, a full scoop of VV, half a scoop of conditioning mix or more if he looks peaky, and half a scoop of the Agrobs Senior Mash. Plus his Forageplus balancer at nearly £100 a bag! He is expensive to keep going.

The old rogue or swinging the lead shire x gelding was walked in hand along the road and brought to the house and loaded into the horsebox. Funnily enough the road he could hardly stagger along when ridden he could trot in hand through excitement, mainly as i had a feed bucket in other hand. Anyway he went into the box first time, closed partition, ate his 2nd breakfast, had some treats and now out in the field. Hasn't loaded in a while so wanted to double check he was still compliant.....went up the field at a canter and is standing next to the hay bale....

I spent tons on Ramsey, trying to keep his weight on. Not just money but time, too. He had to come in to eat in peace, and it took ages for him to polish it off! Bless him, and polish it off he did.

Mattie hates to be shut in, but he always has to have a private space where he can finish his enormous food bucket in peace. I clean the field while he is doing it!

He has put on a bit of cover. HIs nose is still very irritated by the pollen, so while i have ridden him a couple of times, i have also walked him out in hand. Boxed him to different places now, 4 times, and either ridden or led, today he went up the forest and Harrison poodle walked with him for the first time. Harry was very brave as he is scared of horses and donkeys, so now if i take Buddy walkies, we will take Harry.

I miss taking the dogs with me when i ride. Neither are up to it now with the horses. Think floss misses it but its just not safe with her being wobble bobble. She might fall under the horse. She definitely kept billy calmer. Think billy fed off her. If she was far enough ahead she'd flush out the birds before we got there. So they didnt spook the horse flying out the trees. If she didnt react billy wont look for things to spook himself.

Harry wouldn't cope with the horse being ridden but managed to be brave enough when Bud was being led

Buddy at the hunt ride today, over 100 horses there. He did 45 minutes walking, seemed happy. Wasn't his usual eejit self, just the calm one you get once he has cantered. Ground like concrete. Some rather rude riders who cantered past us not even asking if ok to do. It was quite humid and pollen was bad so we turned back before they went up the hill to the more interesting part of the ride.20210529_111554.jpg

Got him as clean as i can for his show tomorrow, 4 in the class, 3 26 year olds and 1 29 year old. He is booked for another hunt ride one he has been on before so see how we go.

He had lost more weight so have added D&H build up cubes to his diet and turmeric and oil. He is looking a bit better, put on a bit, and the last three times i have ridden him he has been his old self. He is off to a hunt ride at the weekend so see if that sparks his enthusiasm. Last time he did that one he was manic.

He did the Lauderdale Hunt ride today, did it a couple of years ago and was a total eejit, Today he was interested but calm, It was humid, he was annoyed when we turned back but he did just over an hour. He met some of the horses from the riding school he was at when we bought him and everyone recognisied him.20210627_112406.jpg20210627_112253.jpg20210627_112043.jpg20210627_111650.jpg
