We were coming home on a country lane, blind bend, heard a tractor approaching from other direction at high speed. High hedges, no room to pass.
What to do? turn and try to trot off knowing you will have a tractor flying round behind you and may make horse bolt and slip/fall or halt, stand and calm the horse and believe he will not spook and pray the driver can stop.
Which is what we did. Tractor came flying round, saw us, jammed on the anchors and stopped just in front of us, with me yelling at him that he was a bloody idiot.
Bud did not budge an inch. Just stood there in the middle of the lane - having nearly dumped me by spooking at a bird minutes before. When you need him to listen, he will. He was a very brave boy.
I am so angry, that stupid b could have killed both of us.
