hello

Can anyone make a recommendation as to a good make and type of boot to wear. I have had Mountain Horse short boots and they were very cokmfy but just didn't last very long. I need a pair of boots that I can wear around the yard, inot the field when not muddy and when riding. I have always throught hte mountain horse boots I had were a bit too chunky to wear when rdiing, despite them being riding boots!

I really really don't like the look of any ariat boots - they just look too 'girly' for me, though i know that they are really popular and wear well.

Has anyone got any good suggestions? I want to spend up to £70 probably.

Hi Sarah, I love my mountain horse short boots, but I too have found they haven't lasted as long as i expected.
I haven't really seen any other similar ones on the market apart from muckers but they are rubbish to ride in.

How about the ariat mudbusters? They look rather substantial. Not like the others.
Or a different type of mountain horse ones? I quite like the lok of the protective joddy boots.
 
I think the mudbuster is a rubber boot, and even though they claim to have climate control, rubber boots in the summer can only mean one thing - sweaty feet!

Anyone got any ideas of any other good makes of boot - not too pricey, but good quality that don't look too girly and don't look like site boots?
 
I love my equitectors - I've got the 'chillbuster' paddock boot variety, they cost me £58 in a local saddlery shop.

The sole is guaranteed against rot from horse wee (sorry, can't think of the appropriate euphemism right now :o !), they have a climate control lining which they claim keeps your foot at the temp you put it in there ie warm in winter and cool in summer (can only speak for the winter, but they certainly did their job then!) and have steel toecaps to protect your feet. They also have an internal 'balance' in the sole which helps keep your heels down - as I have terrible problems with my heels going up I've found this a great help. The sole is thicker than I was used to for riding (had 'classic' thin-soled jodh boots before then) but I very quickly got used to it. The leather comes up beautifully with a quick polish and, although they say they aren't entirely waterproof (other varieties of their boots are), I haven't noticed a problem with them when wading around in mud & puddles this winter.

All in all I'd definitely recommend them - I've seen them in most saddleries and their own website is www.equitector.co.uk

well i've had my boots for a while now they have lasted very well....but i think i had better go look at the base i cant remember the make lol :D ........Toggi! lol silly me. well the toggi boots have lasted me since last summer and are only wearing a little bit where my spurs goand the sloes came out but they glued back in easily, i think i have a long time ahead of me with them though :D.

also i want to know what u think of the mountain high rider long boots? does anyone have or have had a pair? i think they look amazing i've seen them in robinsons and my local saddlery, any opinions on them??

Ryoko - I've got the Sportive High Rider boots and they are brilliant!! Really comfy, lovely padding, not too wide around the calf and you can wear them for competitions! My OH has the other high boots - not the Rimfrosts, the other ones - and he likes them just as much as I like mine!!!!
 
thank you jamey! i'l butter mum up a bit and tell her how good they are supposed to be :D hehehe! they look gorgeous though i love the look of them :D they do look comfy aswell :D i do think they would be a good investment :D i have some lovely johdpur boots that i wear with suede chaps that i have had for a while but i think i want more of a choice of boots to wear, i dont like the rubber ones very much i've had to put up with them today for a show and they rub alot behind the knee:( so i'll have to quest for a pair lol :D thanks again
