Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has any comments on a Kimblewick bit good or bad please?
The reason I'm asking is my pony is very strong out on hacks, and I'm having trouble holding him. He hasn't tanked off with me (yet), but on Sunday he was very strong, and really knocked my confidence. One of my friends suggested a Kimblewick for some extra control, but before I make a decision, I just wanted some to see what everyone's veiws were. I'm currently riding him in a cherry roller.
My pony is excellent in every other way, and respects what I ask of him in the school when we are schooling - infact he is quite lazy in the school! He doesn't get excited, fizzy, buck or rear out on hacks, but he has a very hard mouth, and just doesn't listen to me at all when I want to stop cantering. I've tried using my seat to slow him down etc, but he just doesn't listen when I want to slow down. I want to do some sponsored rides next year, but I don't want to take him to any when I haven't got any brakes.
Any help or alternative bit advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
