Hello,
I have a 17.3hh TB x Shire that has learnt that he can yank/pull his head out in front to drag me to the front of a ride. This action completely unseats me, yanking my arms. I have tried bridging the reins but that has no affect at all.
When he gets to the place he wants to be, he goes right back to normal and settles back down.
He is currently in a French link with sides and for the day to day, schooling, hacking, jumping he is fine – however when at events, shows, out hunting, sponsored rides or when he gets over excited he will do this horrible yank to be at the front.
He used to be nappy and the sides really helped with that but now I worry he has learnt he can do this trick and I need to stop it as it’s frankly dangerous.
I have read reviews about Pee Wee bits helping for this kind of behaviour, and also Waterford bits.
Has anyone got experience with these bits and would they recommend them for this kind of behaviour?
Any advice welcome! Thanks!
