Good ride this afternoon in lovely sunshine... trotted in the school for the first time the grounds been dry enough for weeks (well, it's just a marked-off corner of the field, but it feels like a school); "hacked" round the field, including the boggiest bits, and the deep mud; rein-backed in the mud, then stopped in it for a treat; and only the slightest thought of napping at the gate ... Felt like a great achievement; mud was the cause of my worst fall of Hebe. It's taken long enough, but she really is getting a lot easier to ride. I hope we'll be able to venture out of the gate soon...

Sounds fab. I have a horse who is mud and water phobic too, so I really appreciate your sense of achievement at getting Hebe to go into the mud. I'm sure you'll have left the gate far behind you by the end of the summer!
