I am fine with blood and gore etc 99% of the time.

But then randomly out of the blue I will get dizzy and faint haha.

Its always on tv stuff, never in real life I am fine with that. I could watch an operation on tv one day and be absolutely fine, next day watch it and faint..

Just wondered if anyone had ways of coping or distracting themselves from doing it. I've tried closing eyes, imagining nice things, pinching myself, drinking water but don't really help.

Tonight I was at the cinema and it wasn't even a particularly bad scene, but I fainted and it was all very embarrassing!!

I don't but my sister faints at the tiniest bit of blood, she's had to get better though as our mum is diabetic so always checking her blood sugar levels, I'll ask her how ahe manages it. Oddly perhaps, she only faints at human blood, the horses cut herself and she feels queezy but can patch them up.

I'm better than I was in real life. However, Ripper Street and Whitechapel on tv can have me feeling rather weak of limb! I get weak legs and wrists. Eeeek!

TV and Film gore I'm fine with.
Patching up injured animals, I'm fine.
Real life human blood, bleurgh! I used to be fine but I can't stomach it now! I had to take my Mum to A&E after cutting her finger, I went with her into the initial consultation and I was a goner!

I have stupidly low blood pressure, this will, occasionally have me fuzzy headed for no apparent reason. Have you had your blood pressure tested, It might not be the blood and gore, but your blood pressure,

Mine rarely gets up into the 100s.

I don't think gore has ever had me going fuzzy. Standing in a queue for a long time can have me going fuzzy.

I can go weird standing in queues. I get a bit hot and go dizzy. I always blame the lights in supermarkets.

I have a healthy blood pressure now, it was high last time I got it checked though!

Its an awful feeling, start by getting really hot and then dizzy and need to get away from whatever I am watching, however going outside often doesn't help much and
I still usually faint aanyway

Absolutely fine with cuts and wounds etc in real life, doesn't bother me, just very occasionally on tv it causes me to faint haha

I surprised myself last year actually, when Storm had been scoped it caused a tremendous nose bleed. I know a little goes a long way and all that, but OH had to look away! I used to be terrible but have got better. As I say, Ripper Street does for me. (The man candy more than makes up for it though:p)

I am fine with blood, but needles scare the life out of me. When I was pregnant with my 2nd child I had to have very regular bloodtests and it was just horrible. I think that the needles are going to snap and stay inside my body!

I fainted during the eye-gouging scene in King Lear at the Globe theatre on the South Bank in London. A lot of GSCE English student saw my pants, and I had to be taken out in a wheelchair. One of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

I'm generally not too bad with blood. Just really bad with eyes!

Ooooh! I have stupidly low blood pressure too. What does this actually mean?! I'v never got round to finding out what the health implications actually are!

I had a similar fear thinking dental needles would snap inside my gums! Thankfully I am over it now.

I have been told that in other countries I'd be treated for my level of low blood pressure. It can come with side effects, like passing out , headaches and other stuff, since mine comes with nothing other than the occasional dizzy spell if I get out of bed too quickly, or stand still for too long, I take no notice and neither does the GP.

When my son was 3 weeks overdue my blood pressure in pregnancy made it as high as 100 over 50. 97 over 45 is not out of the ordinary for me.

I've been a fainter since I my teens. I have anaemia, a heart arrhythmia and low BP so it's no surprise really! There are various things that set me off, including blood if it comes from anything remotely wound-like - blood on its own doesn't bother me but if there's other gore involved I am very squeamish! Luckily, having been a fainter for a long time I recognise the signs of when it's coming on, and can normally sit or crouch down and get my head down quick enough to reverse it. There are occasions I can't stop it in time but generally I am quite good at feeling it coming.

Getting dizzy or light-headed in queues may not be an indication of health issue - it's usually just from decreased circulation because you've been stationary for too long, and then of course being in a warm environment and/or under artificial lights will make it worse. If it happens to you often, just make sure you keep moving your feet around and don't stand in exactly the same spot. I get a lot of funny looks from people in queues as I fidget so much I wonder if they think I'm on something :p but at the end of the day I prefer that to the "attention" you get when you faint in public!

I've only fainted once - the first time I had a mammogram. I was astonished by how much it hurt, and when the nurse finally let me out of the instrument of torture I just keeled over.

These days I manage the reaction by carefully regulated breathing. Blood & gore doesn't bother me though.

No im usually pretty good but dont like gory films like saw and such. The amount of blood that came out of me earlier being tattood its a good job i have a high pain barrier and a good stomach

I can't watch 'torture porn.' I accidentally went to see Hostel with my brother because the lying toad convinced me it was a charming comedy about a group of American backpackers in Europe. I was almost sick and would have walked out if we weren't right in the middle of a very crowded cinema!

Can and do deal with horrific things at work without issue - stabbings, people on fire, death etc - but vomit.... Bah leaves me crying like a baby!!!!
