We bought a horse 2 months ago and its annual injection is now due. On checking his injection record again, we note that the injection last year was 3 days later than the year before.

Will this mean that we will not be able to compete affiliated unless we start a new course of Flu injections?

Probably - we had similar with ours and we had to start again! needs to be spot on for showing if asked to be seen, we (the royal form) missed the deadline for the booster, a very expensive error! might be worth checking with vets who carried out the injection just to make sure they haven't put the wrong date on, ours did on our Mares, fortunately we noticed it and I got it ammended in the records.

We show affiliated and have never been asked for vaccination cards although several venues stipulated up to date ones must be available. Racecourses and big shows where horses are staying over night are the most likely to check.

BD, BE and BSJA have their own rules and some Pony Clubs are very tight. Be a shame to get somewhere and not be allowed to unload!

A friend ours went to BRC one day event - forgot her documents and had to stay in the park with horse inside trailer until BF drove over ( 1 hour drive) with the necessary so they could be inspected, luckily she had gone over in good time, otherwise she would not have been allowed to compete, he made it withabout 15 minutes before the deadline.

We always have ours with us, not been asked to show them yet, but as already said it would be a b*****d if you spent time, effort and cost and found it was a total waste because you are not elgible for the sake of not having correct documentation.

Nice lady vet says best if we are up to date if competing and has agreed to do 2nd vac at cost (no call out fee) as a gesture of good will....
