A day where it all seems right

Ever had one of those days when it all seems right? Not dramatic life changing events, but a calm peaceful day when it seems right.

Catching Luka this morning I saw a friend so we both stood chatting for half an hour while the boys grazed the better grass in front of Luka's field. She had good news, some big problems and worries seem to have turned round after years of hard work and it was so good to hear about it all.

Then took Luka up to the yard for a small breakfast and haynet before riding. He was chilled and munched on his net while I groomed rathe than looking at everything and swinging all his itchy spots at me and refusing to eat until they were done. A small thing indeed, but it's the small things that can be good. He also wasn't doing his mouthy "stallion" behviour and kept his front feet where they belonged - the last couple of weeks he's been feeling spring is in the air and there have been times it's got a bit tedious.

Let me on at the second attempt, and stood until I was firmly in the saddle. This is just as well because he was starting to get a bald patch where I'd had to grab his mane too many times and I can't believe that's pleasant for him either. We then went for a lovely longer than usual ride on a route I don't often do because I'm hopeless at gates, but today it was open and despite not having done it for maybe two years he cheerfully strolled along on a long rein and just occassionally stopped to take in the view. This level of calm makes me so happy as it's a far cry from when I got him, I firmly believe a lot of it has come from the simple discipline of hours of walking so he could see things and also knew what was wanted. On our travels we saw an amazing field full of cowslips, I'm afraid there are no photos though. Just one of those perfect hacks wher we both agreed and had an easy time.

Got back a bit late but still had time for lunch with my husband,, then managed to bag a long changing robe type coat in the local tack shop sale at a huge discount.

Back up the yard to pop rugs on as it's going colder tonight and is very windy, then put the hay out. Had a bit of a natter then home to have a soak (my knees were starting to grumble a bit), dinner, and soon bed.

So not an exciting day, but nevertheless a wonderful one :)

@Trewsers my worse knee is not at all happy with me, though Voltarol gel first thing did help. He's had today off since he's been ridden every day this week, though truth told the day off is more for my benefit than his - one of us clearly has bigger fitness issues than the other 🤣 . This is why I so value not having to ride most days though, and why to me temperament is so important.

I like days like that when everything just falls into place.
I like calm and not rushing and bumming into people for a natter.

We have a ride where they have actually put in horse gates that you can do from on board. But for some months of the year they are open and some shut and yes we have to do the ooh lookie they are open and do it all over again when they shut. So I just get off 😂

Talking of taking photos I have a new camera and I will try and kick myself up the bum to use it. Else its getting sold on 😂
It's just nice to be with your horse and have that moment to yourselves though isn't it.

Sounds like a great day to me, and lots of small moments that you appreciated fully. It's nice like you say when things just work out!
