No such thing as “the Shetlands”. There is Shetland only. Similar to Orkney. No such thing as The Orkneys, or the Scilly’s or the Englands.

if you really must, there is Shetland Isles Or even Shetland islands.

I could go on but I would end up being very offensive to you but calling it The Shetlands is to me and every Shetlander, incorrect.
