I had my trailer valeted yesterday. I have used these people a couple of times before but infrequently. When I booked in my friend asked if she could get hers done too. I said they were great, did a good job etc. so both booked in. Prices had gone up to £35 which I agreed to.

Well they were an hour late. After they should have been here they text to say it would be about 15mins. When they did arrive they said a road was closed so they had to go round. Even if it was it is not an hour detour.

So we change plans to field will have hers done first, I’ll come back in an hour as it takes about 90 mins per trailer. Showed them the electric point and they asked about water. They have never needed water before as it is all stored in their van tank.

So when I came back they were doing mine. I thought that was quite quick. Then friend was fizzing, yo was fizzing. Turns out they didn’t have enough water for 2 and yo refused to let them use the tap to fill the tank and had got them to use a different tap and use water carriers to fill.

It took them the same amount of time to do 2 trailers as 1. Friend had given them extra money due to the hastle with the water. I paid, they left, I parked up and friend came over saying they hadn’t done a good job. When I looked at mine I agree. They have done the obvious bits but not touched other bits. They have not done the inside of the roof. The mud guards haven’t been touched or the part of the trailer under that. There was a panel in full view that hadn’t been touched. The bum bar still has poo on it etc.

They had said as they come a distance (15miles) they would need to charge for distance, which is fine. So I sort of thought if they were doing 2 they might split the travel. But in fact they got extra money.

Do I say something? Friends says no just leave it. Mum says I should. I will need to take trailer and get the missed bits done. I won’t use them again but it is awkward.

I would tell them just what you've told us, and emphasise how embarrassing it was to find that the job was far short of previous times when the only reason your friend had had hers done was that you'd recommended them.

I would do as @carthorse suggests. Give them the chance to correct their failings. If they choose not to do anything about it when you have calmly and politely pointed things out, then you should leave reviews on Facebook or whatever before they do the same to someone else.

I can't bear to think of people rubbing their hands in glee when they've got away with being overpaid for shoddy work. I hope they are shocked and at least promise you a discount and a proper job next time.

Ugh, poor you. I hate confrontations but in this case I think I would confrontate. Shoddy work is lazyness. Just tell them as it is. I doubt they were on your Christmas card list anyway. At best, they will remedy it, and at worst karma will bite them in the bum and they lose your custom.

Yup I’d be making sure they knew I was dissatisfied and give them the chance to fix it, it could just have been one of those nightmare days for them, but if they don’t fix it then I would leave poor reviews.

Nowhere to leave reviews. A friend gave me their number a few years ago. I just have a mobile number. I will try and get brave and message them.

Find their company name and have a search, no company is without some digital presence somewhere in this day and age.

Your bad reviews may also just be telling your yard mates and friends not to bother with them as their service has gone down hill. If they’re that small they don’t advertise with a company name they can’t afford bad word of mouth!

I don’t ring people. I just texted. They just sign with their names. No reviews left and no info really but at least a company name.

I messaged. Got the reply saying sorry but they had washed and brushed everywhere but they might have been short on water.

Short on water is a pretty pathetic excuse when your business is valeting! Surely you make sure you have enough of something as basic as that. Makes me think they'd been somewhere and another person or two had asked if theirs could be done at the same time - cash in their pocket was too tempting to resist but it meant they were late and short of supplies when they got to you.

I'd definitely be leaving a poor review everywhere I could since they've made no attempt to remedy the situation.

They were meant to be with me at 9.30 but turned up at 10.30. So yes perhaps they had done something else before. They knew they were doing 2 trailers. They actually changed days when I asked if another could be done.

Do I reply to their message or just leave a bad review?
