Coffee & Cake Shop Chat

It's been colder here today too. I've stayed in and constructed a Santa sleigh out of 2 huge pieces of cardboard. I can't leave cardboard alone - it calls me. I made a grandfather clock last week, for travelling back to prehistoric times. I'll be very busy when we get our next large appliance. I'm thinking possibly a caravan or a bus.

Said goodbye to my beautiful girl Brie yesterday. She was an old lady and had a growth, vets were going to operate and we had a lovely weekend together (I know that probably sounds silly but I got her new toys, all her comfy beds and favourite foods) as was 50/50 whether she would survive surgery. The day before she went in she went downhill very quickly and made the difficult decision to PTS. A wonderful companion through many tough times. Her little friends are very sad with her loss and are getting lots of extra attention IMG_20201120_085640.jpg

@Ale I am so so sorry to read that. She looked a real sweetheart. And it doesn't sound silly at all buying her the new things - you are so caring and kind. She had a wonderful happy life with you I just know it. I'm sure her friends are missing her already and you've got a guinea pig shaped hole in your heart right now too. Lots of kind thoughts to you and hugs. xxxx

@Ale I too am so sorry for you loss, was going to say similar to what Trewsers has posted above, but she said it much better than I could. Sending you lots of virtual hugs too xxx

I let the dogs out about 8am and it was definitely raining. Radar image shows no rain for us, so that wet mizzle. Not raining now though. Having a slow morning. I seem to have a lot of them lately. Must find some motivation.

Fridge is almost bare, cupboards are looking bare too, really need to do a food shop but not got any enthusiasm.
Our toaster has broken to so need to find a new one. Buttons are all on the ends so in the wrong place for our kitchen set up. Mum wants little toaster so havent enlightened her yet that all the buttons and leaver wont be accessible. We will have to rearrange the kitchen that wont go down well. I see an argument brewing over a toaster. Anything i say lately either breaks into an argument about silly things or she blanks me with im flustered, my heads spinning.

I did a huge top up yesterday of food at 2 places.

Its only going to get worse crowd wise as it gets closer to Thanksgiving next thurs.

The only bit of congestion at one store was the fish...deli counters that are next to each other so I skipped trying to get salmon.

This was a great revelation.
They heve these awesome not overly sweet cookies called Champaign cookies.. no idea why
They had one pack out on the counter
I asked if rhey had more
I never see more than one or 2 out.
I asked if they had more woohoo
They get them in packaged
Packaged frozen.
So I got 3 packages still frozen and put 2 right in the feeezer yum.

I bet stores will be awful this weekend and until they close early wed pm.
I'm glad I'm done and dusted.

Even after Thanksgiving not needing to go for anything will be GOOD.

They have huge black Friday sales sometimes starting at midnite friday .
People flock like cockroaches for the
10 or 20 tv,s or computers available at rock bottom come on prices when places open.
I've never gone I'm not intetested in flocks of people pushing thru doors
running around aisles like lunatics.

All the surrounding states with this us have curfew to be inside your home 10 pm to 5 am which I think will make the
Chaos even worse.

People really go nuts getting into fights yanking items out of other peoples hands...it gets nasty.
People really need to get a grip and get a life.

There will be no way to enforce any safety rules.
I feek really bad for workers. It's going to be awful and dangerously unhealthy for them..

Our toaster has lever to lower bread at the end but everything else on the front. The front faces our kitchen space. But it is a Magimix and expensive with a glass front and a single roomy slot to take tea cakes or pittas. We have had it for years and I love it. They do a cheaper simpler one which also has the controls on the long side. I cant get a link to the standard smaller one.

So sorry - she was beautiful. They are the sweetest little things, they really are.

What a day it's been here. Just sitting up here in the warmth before battling out there again. I have to make sure everyone gets a leg stretch - which they have (Zi has been free ranging but the girls haven't). The wind is still up and rising. Chloe wouldn't come out (don't blame her) and Storm spooked herself on the yard gate as the wind blew it as far as possible even when tied with a lead rope. I'm thawing out, but the field is brutal and the cat shelter is taking a bashing. Felix doesn't look fazed though. Rosy has been curled up like a set of old bagpipes all afternoon in the garage. I just want tomorrow to come and still have all the tin roof in place in the cat barn!
