And it's a prelim!

We are not ready and most likely will be in last place, but we all have to start somewhere right :)

Sunday 4th, it's with in hacking distance and don't have to dress up, so very casual but still will be fun.

Prelim 18 2002 if anyone has any tips.

Enjoy it.
There will be placed you might lose marks but places where you gain. Don't throw them away by forgetting the test, cutting off your corners, transitions too early or too late etc.

Or in my case completely overshooting and leaving the area completely before managing to turn! Impulsion love it. :D

On a serious note at prelim level accuracy will gain you points if you contact is insecure don’t fight it it is better to have none or all the time not inconsistent and never behind the bit.

Use corners and get the shapes right a circle is a circle at A not a square at the end then a semi circle. Oh and enter on your best rein in a good forward trot

Thank-you everyone for the good wishes and the advice. It's very much appreciated.

My practice yesterday was snowed off but I did ride though it last week and he went really well. I mean not compared to other horses but for him I thought he felt brilliant. Lots to work on still. Left turn after going up the centre line I'm expecting to get needs more bend, this is something we are working on. Also 3 loop serpentine might be interesting as I've only ridden one on him last week, not something I commonly ride!! And his free walk is hit and miss. Hopefully he's ridden tomorrow otherwise he will of had a whole week off but the hack over there will see what mood he's in. It would be nice not to come last bit I don't have high hopes. Still looking forward to it though!

My share was full of beans and then some!! We got into the arena and he went straight into canter and wouldn't stop! He did eventually settle enough for me to have some control and actually did a really nice, if slightly rushed and against the hand test. Anyway was really pleased with him there is a definite improvement from our prelim last year (we came 8th) and we scored 63% and third place. We also got our first ever 7.5 so very pleased!
