Well, it has been a hard summer for the Ziglet, but not without its compensations.

I am sure he thinks things over when I am not there. And today he:

  • walked in hand over the coloured poles (flat on the ground) without hesitation, deviation but WITH repetition, in both directions, four or five times;
  • picked up his frisbee and handed it to me for the VERY FIRST TIME; and
  • walked, trotted and cantered with me at liberty, and then WALKED BESIDE ME OVER THE COLOURED POLES ALL BY HIMSELF IN BOTH DIRECTIONS!!!!!!!
I could not be more thrilled if we had done a clear round at Hickstead :bounce::skip::showoff:

I'm glad you've been enjoying yourself.

Groundwork is fun, i love it, great for confidence building etc.

I do stick to me over the jumps with Tilley, now she's got bigger girl i think i need longer poles!

Go you and Ziggy!!!!

Am remembering all your things with Ziggy as Tobes will have to be in for 7 days whilst undertaking his worming routine at the new yard:help:

Eyed up a ball sort of thing in the feed merchants today. Which one does Ziggy have?

Am mentally noting all beech branches, and various other things he loves, so I too may pick bags of things to entertain him.

Bet Ziggy is well delighted with himself. Did you start clicker training whilst he was on box rest? Or before?

Wow that is great Jane! Fancy Ziggy popping himself freely over coloured poles... they obviously weren't of the horse-eating variety :giggle:

Ziggy has the Horse Decahedron and he LOVES it.

We have been clicker training for a while, but yesterday was the time I saw most clearly that he was really THINKING and thinking hard about what he could try. He offered me the frisbee out of the blue, I was gobsmacked! But I clicked like mad in good time, and then he did it again, yay!

Do you use a hand held clicker or just click with your tongue ?

I now just click with my tongue, as i found i was a bit fumbly with my hands trying to do/hold too much. It seems to work well for us.

He`s very clever picking up the frisbee ... a fantastic party trick :wink: I love seeing Coby actually 'thinking' things through, makes such a difference to initial re-actions.
