The farrier warned me that her feet will be worse now than they have ever been because of the nails hole growing down.

However when he took a look he was really pleased with Joy's feet. He said that if she's that good now then he can't see her having a problem.

My only concern is that I have been avoiding as much as posible our stonier tracks. On the one occasion I did one for a short cut when the heavens opened I had to get off and lead Joy home.

Does anyone use hoof boots at the back too? Most of what I have been reading seems to be with people using them only in front and she's shod at the front anyway.

I want to be able to do the tracks more, especially as the weather improves as that's where I get most of my canters.

It's very important to me that Joy is comfortable.

No idea about the hoof boots.

But did you ask your farrier about her being lame (don't know if she still is)? Was wondering if he had said anything about bruising as you said you were worried when she went footy on the road?:)

I didn't need to. Joy was fine again after a few days. It was my stupid fault for wanting to cut the ride short when it chucked it down. Won't be making that mistake again

We had a great talk about barefoot and concussion and I watched him trimming her.

He's ditched the other livery who mucked him about once too often.

he looked at Littles who didn;t need doing so he's going to be looked at each time but probably only need trimming every other time :)

there was a post earlier today about hoof boots which had pics in that showed poeple using boots on the front and the back, but it would be interesting to hear peoples thoughts as I have a friend looking to remove her horses rear shoes and use hoof boots on the rear only!!

Yes that was what I was wondering about :)

Thanks for pointing me towards that other thread, I'll take a look :)

Yann uses hoof boots on one of his horses hinds (it was on a post today), but not Renegades as they came off. It was the "what hoof boots does everyone use" thread (or similar).
Glad to hear that your farrier is pleased that is great news. Hopefully given time she'll be fine behind without boots, but I can understand you wanting to keep her comfy. I need to take Belle out more without her front boots as I think I'm not giving them a chance to get used to different surfaces. Roll on summer and more riding...:)
