Hi I'm replacing my old trailer floor. It's a rice trailer and wanted to know what the best wood was and what thickness? Thanks for any suggestions

I would look at the original spec's and see what they used and try to replicate it at least. It would definitely be hard wood if using planks, soft wood would just break. If going for boards you would need to be careful that they are thick enough (people often put a double skin on doing it that way) and that you add enough drainage and waterproof them sufficiently.

We took our trailer into a local chap who services Cheval trailers and had the floor replaced with a lightweight metal floor in line with the new spec - the new Chevals are coming with one as standard now - they laid the new rubber on top and we are well pleased with it - Charlie is a sod for stamping everytime you stop the trailer so no worries out going through it now.

I wouldn't replace a floor with wood these days. I would replace with aluminium. Adds value and puts your mind at ease that it isn't going to rot
