    Hi, I started riding lessons about a few months ago.
    I've had (counts) about 9 lessons so far(group lessons).
    I started learning to trot on my first lesson, and now i can post confidently while controlling the horse.
    I've read about trotting without stirrups, but at my group lessons, we don't really trot without stirrups and do things without them.
    I only have like 3 lessons left this year, and i really want to start to canter soon.
    I've started jumping (at trot) and it was really fun.
    I don't really want to ask 'can i canter' cause that's like, rude.
    I like do riding lessons with people of all levels, because we do it like as a group from my school.
    They are all like really good riders and can canter, and there's only one who is about the same level as me.
    When am i ready?!!?:confused::(o_O

    I would tell your instructor that you would like to try cantering and ask if they you think you are ready yet. It varies a lot from person to person - I think confidence and natural balance are big factors....
